Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This privacy policy explains how El Rakan Tours Morocco collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit our website, contact us or travel with us. We are a small family business, and we treat your information with the same care we give to your journey.

Who we are

The data controller is STE EL RAKAN SARL (trading as El Rakan Tours Morocco), 316 Av. Al-Maghreb Al-Arabi, 3rd Floor, No. 7, 45000 Ouarzazate, Morocco. Email: info@elrakantoursmorocco.com · Phone / WhatsApp: +212 7 02 27 43 23.

What data we collect

  • Contact and enquiry details – your name, email address, phone number and the information you share about your travel plans when you use our contact form, email us or message us on WhatsApp.
  • Booking details – information needed to organise your trip, such as the names of travellers, travel dates, accommodation and meal preferences (for example dietary requirements) and any special requests.
  • Payment information – details related to deposits paid by bank transfer (such as the name of the account holder and the amount). We do not store card details on our website.
  • Newsletter subscription – your email address, if you choose to subscribe to our blog updates.
  • Website usage data – technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your data

  • To answer your questions and prepare personalised itineraries and offers.
  • To organise and deliver your trip, including booking accommodation, transfers, drivers, guides and activities.
  • To communicate with you before and during your journey.
  • To send our blog posts and travel tips by email, if you have subscribed – you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To keep our website secure and understand how it is used, so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

We process your data because it is necessary to respond to your request or perform our contract with you, because you have given your consent (for example to the newsletter), because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our business, or because the law requires it.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal data. We only share the information that is strictly necessary with:

  • Our trusted local partners – accommodation providers, desert camps, drivers, guides and activity providers who are part of your trip.
  • Service providers that help us run our website and communication: WordPress.com / Jetpack (Automattic) for website hosting, statistics, security and the newsletter; Formidable Forms for our contact form; Google for the website translation tool; and WhatsApp (Meta) when you choose to contact us there.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process data outside Morocco and the European Union, for example in the United States. In these cases we rely on the safeguards offered by the providers.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, as well as cookies for statistics, security and the translation tool. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features of the website may then not work properly.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to answer your request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you decide to travel with us. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as required by accounting and tax law. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under Moroccan Law 09-08 on the protection of personal data and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw your consent at any time, and – under the GDPR – to data portability. To exercise these rights, simply write to us at info@elrakantoursmorocco.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority – in Morocco, the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel), or the supervisory authority in your country of residence in the EU.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
